For up-to-date scores and coverage of breaking sports news, there's no better site on the Web than The Sports Network. Major league football, baseball, basketball, and hockey are covered, of course, but golf, motor racing, boxing, soccer, and college sports receive considerable attention, too. Minor league hockey and basketball are now included, and the site is gearing up for the 1996 Summer Olympics. The Sports Network is light on graphics but full of solid information.
This site's best feature is its Live Scoreboards, located right on the home page. The scoreboards are continuously updated and are amazingly current, following the live action with only a couple of minutes delay. Many scores are accompanied by a "log" which summarizes important plays and missed opportunities while the contest is in progress. At the conclusion of a game, a wrap-up is available within minutes. On a busy sports day, it's fun to return to the site often to check the winners, losers, and games in progress.
You'll also want to follow the news updates for your favorite sports and teams. News items are added almost around the clock, and there is a page of news items for every team in every major team sport. If that weren't enough, The Sports Network's handsome design and fast response make it a joy to use.

Millions of us are fascinated by the game of golf. If you've ever played the game, you can appreciate the accomplishments of the sports top professionals. NBC's Golf Tour Web site is comprehensive collection of golf resources, focusing on results and news from the professional game, but including plenty of information for mere mortals as well.
Golf Tour offers results and schedules for pro tours around the world, including the Nike and FUTURES tours, where the PGA and LPGA stars of tomorrow pay their dues and develop their skills. Want to know more about your favorite pro? The site holds biographies and photos of every player on the PGA, LPGA and Seniors tours. If you play golf when you travel, you'll love the Course Locator, which provides detailed info and ratings for thousands of courses in all 50 states. The site has an extensive shopping area as well, where you can purchase anything from a sand wedge to a straw hat (you, too, can look like The Shark).
Navigating around the site is easy, with clear menus and links on every page. The graphics range from gorgeous to minimal, but always seem appropriate to their section of the site. You'll spend hours exploring this site -- it's the next best thing to being on the course.

The National Basketball Association has pulled out all the stops to create one of the flashiest and most entertaining Web sites anywhere. The mood and style of NBA.com perfectly mirror the league's high flying, in-your-face attitude.
There's a lot of multimedia action at this site. The NBA Theater, for instance, holds plenty of QuickTime and AVI video action clips and audio highlights in both WAV and RealAudio formats. Scorecards for every game on the NBA schedule can be printed out, letting you keep score while watching TV games.
Every team in the league has its own extensive suite of pages at NBA.com. Player biographies, team news, standings, results, and multimedia highlights are all available. A photo and career statistics are provided for every player in the NBA. Reflecting the NBA's ambitions to further internationalize the sport, there's coverage of European roundball, with some material in French and Spanish. What better place to spread the word than on the World Wide Web?
Even if basketball isn't your favorite sport, you'll get a kick out of this site. And that's precisely what the NBA intended.
