"In the Middle of Difficulty Lies Opportunity" .. Albert Einstein

Indeed the compiling of great quotes, poses some difficulty. Here are the beginnings of what aspire to be a fine collection of quotes. I will be adding categories and new quotes on a regular basis, so please visit often.

If you have suggestions for additional quotes or categories, please send them to:
[email protected].
Please name the author whenever possible, and specify whether your name can be quoted as a source for the contribution.

The newest additions is a page dedicated to quotes by George Bernard Shaw, a favorite of mine, and Sir Walter Raleigh a timeless spirit! Finally, it's not just a quote, but arguably the finest speech I have ever heard, certainly in my era. Charlton Heston, speaking on 'Winning the Cultural War,' Tuesday, February 16, 1999 sponsored by the Harvard Law School Forum, a student organization at Harvard Law School, delivered a speech that I have reprinted on its own webpage at http://home.earthlink.net/~cyberbubba/heston.pdf and have also created a .pdf for you to download at http://home.earthlink.net/~cyberbubba/heston.pdf should you so desire.

I also welcome any comments regarding these efforts, and hope that they are enjoyed by all who visit. Now, just pick a category above, and have fun!

But before you go, here's one of my all time favorites

It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there-to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules-but to win.

And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.

I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

And some of my favorite words to live by ....

The greatest gift that a man can give to his children, is to love their Mother.

...George Bernard Shaw

Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don't say it mean.
